Our vacancy
Our Health and Social Infrastructure (HSI) Department manages diverse international projects for example in rural development, hospital rehabilitation and construction, and vocational training/university campus development.
Our services span the full project cycle, from acquisition, feasibility studies and design to procurement and tendering, construction supervision, operation and maintenance, technical assistance and capacity building to project monitoring and evaluation. In order to provide these services we work within supportive, experienced and cross-disciplinary teams of specialized professionals.
In order to complement and strengthen the team at our headquarters we are hiring to fill a permanent full-time civil engineer position. As a member of the HSI team you will have exposure to a variety of projects of varied scale & complexity, backstopping from our offices in Cologne with opportunity to travel to the project sites around the world to work with the expert teams on the ground and see the project progress firsthand.
Main Duties in this Position
In this position, you will be responsible for technical expert input, project acquisition and technical and organisational coordination, including result monitoring. And you will be involved in guidance and training of local or international staff. This will include:

Regular contact with national and international stakeholders

Liaison with potential partner companies

Contact with expert staff regarding international and national assignments

Participation in the preparation of various phases of proposals for publicly funded projects

Reporting, quality assurance, monitoring

Coordination with GITEC-IGIP departments both in Cologne and abroad
Educational background
-
B.Sc. (or higher) in civil engineering
Required expertise / profile
-
Full fluency in French (native-level preferred) and very good command of English/German.

At least 5 years of professional experience

Experience in (technical and financial) management of international projects

Very good communication and report writing skills
-
Knowledge of the development cooperation sector and publicly funded project landscape is an asset (eg. KfW, EU, GIZ, Worldbank etc).

Willingness to work on a permanent basis in Cologne/Germany
